Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist as well as a journalist, author and has been covering conflict zones over the last forty-five years. Her research focuses on the human suffering of disasters and human tragedy. Curry has been a reporter in war zones like Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in Agana) was an American TV anchor, reporter as well as a journalist. Her most renowned work was for being a correspondent of the Today Show, a morning news program that was broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry's work was noted because of her coverage of human crises occurring in war-torn nations as well as natural disasters. Curry was the child of an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. Curry's parents bonded in Japan, in which her father was stationed since World War II. As a result of her father's active military duty, the family travelled frequently. They finally moved to Ashland Oregon where Curry attended the high school. Curry graduated in 1978, with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon. Her exposure to a variety of cultures and experiences in her early years probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to global issues. Curry traveled a lot along with her companion, and did not attend a school for longer than two full years. She attended schools in San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia. Ashland was her last high school. Her career in broadcasting began with an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. At age 22, she eventually became the first female journalist at the station. Then, she stepped on to become an anchor and reporter for KGW which is the NBC affiliate station in Portland. In Los Angeles, she became an anchor and reporter for KCBS TV just four years after having moved into the city. During her KCBS-TV relationship of six years the station, she won 2 Emmy Awards.
